07Character Depth MRI
Built on John Dewey's account of experience. Interpretive: read by a model.
Does my character change, or do they just do things until the plot ends?
Follows each lead through the six phases of a complete experience and shows where the change stalls.
€21 is the price for a feature-length script, up to 120 pages. A 10-page scene costs €6. Most reports are ready in a few minutes. No account, and your script is deleted as soon as the analysis has run.
- Best for
- Writers whose notes say the arc feels thin, and who want to see which phase of the transformation is missing.
- Not designed for
- Demanding that every character transform. Deliberately static characters exist; the instrument shows where a circuit breaks so you can decide whether the break is the point.
What you get
- Dewey’s six phases for each key character, habit to reflection, as strong, moderate or weak
- Where each circuit breaks, named: impulsive, passive or anaesthetic
- A short diagnosis for each character
- Ki-Tek
Ki-Tek's behaviour cycles between passive habit and sudden, rage-driven action, with no deliberation in between. He never absorbs the 'undergoing' of humiliation; it comes out as violence.
What it measures
Whether each key character goes through a complete experience in John Dewey’s sense: settled habit, a disruption, deliberation, action, living with the consequences, and reflection. A character who skips a phase tends to feel thin.
Method
- 1.Key characters are read for each of Dewey’s six phases, from habit to reflection.
- 2.Where a character’s circuit breaks, the pattern is named: impulsive, passive or anaesthetic.
- 3.Each character gets a short diagnosis of where the change happens or stalls.

Terms used in the report
- Experience circuit
- Dewey’s arc of a complete experience: habit → disruption → deliberation → doing → undergoing → reflection.
- Undergoing
- Being changed by the consequences of one’s actions. Shallow characters skip this phase.
- Failure pattern
- How the circuit breaks: anaesthetic (all doing, no feeling), impulsive (action without reflection), passive (locked in habit).
